Photos: Mission to Seafarers 10th Annual Cycling for Seafarers

By BCShippingNews 07 September 2017
Blue skies, lots of fun...and for a good cause!

The Mission to Seafarers 10th Annual Cycling for Seafarers was a great success! The event, dedicated to the memory of Dave Roels and his support of the Mission and it's work, saw close to 100 participants from Vancouver's marine industry choose one of four routes for a bike ride in support of the Mission's work in welcoming and assisting crew during their stay in the Port of Vancouver. Representatives from the Chamber of Shipping, Teekay, the Shipping Federation of Canada, Transport Canada, BC Ferries and many, many more companies and organizations spent Saturday, August 26 on their bike under blue skies, followed by a scrumptious barbeque back at the Mission's waterfront house. And best of all: the Mission reached their goal of raising $50,000. Big thanks to all of the sponsors, including BC Maritime Employers Association, DP World Vancouver, Seaspan Marine, Chamber of Shipping, Montship, Wheelhouse Shipping Agency, BC Ferries, Chevron, Saam Smit Towage Canada Inc., Neptune Terminals, Teekay, Westshore Terminals, Tymac Launch Service, Port of Vancouver and BC Shipping News. While we've tried to identify as many people as possible (a challenge given the helmets, sunglasses and lack of business suits), if you spot an error or can assist, please contact jane@bcshippingnews.com.
